Job title: Events & Hospitality Manager
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on skills and experience + bonus
Are you a commercially driven events and hospitality professional who loves building something brilliant?
At Horizon Leisure Centres, we’re on a mission to empower our communities to lead happier, healthier lives. We’re more than a gym or a swimming pool — we’re a hub for our community, and events and hospitality are a big part of how we bring that to life.
We’re looking for an Events & Hospitality Manager who can take full ownership of our growing events programme and hospitality offer — someone who’s just as at home interrogating a P&L as they are running the bar at a sell-out event on a Saturday night.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll have commercial and operational ownership of everything from venue hire and private events to café and hospitality trading across our sites. That means:
• Building and managing event P&Ls from the ground up, setting and defending margin targets and reporting performance to the Senior Leadership Team
• Proactively generating new event business — from community nights and sporting events to corporate hire — and acting as the lead contact from first enquiry to final de-rig
• Owning the promotions calendar, briefing marketing activity and tracking ROI on every campaign
• Driving Average Spend per Customer across our café and hospitality outlets through smart menu engineering, upselling and supplier management
• Leading, coaching and developing your team to own commercial performance, not just show up and deliver
• Keeping everything compliant — food safety, licensing, health and safety — so events run smoothly and legally
You’ll work closely with the General Manager, Operations Team and Finance Team — so you’ll have the support, data and operational backing to make things happen.
This is a genuinely varied role with real commercial scope, and plenty of opportunity to put your stamp on it.
What we’re looking for
• A proven track record managing events or hospitality P&Ls, with real accountability for revenue, margin and cost control
• Experience running café, catering or food and beverage operations commercially — you know how to grow average spend and protect margin
• Experience leading teams across multiple sites or outlets, with a track record of setting and hitting KPIs
• A confident communicator who can sell a venue to a corporate client in the morning and motivate a bar team on a Friday night
• Commercially sharp, creatively minded and genuinely passionate about delivering great experiences for our community
Experience in a charity, trust or leisure environment is a bonus, as is a Personal Licence or Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate — but if you don’t have them yet, we’ll support you to get there.
Why Horizon?
We’re a not-for-profit leisure trust with a genuine community purpose — which means every pound you help generate goes back into the services and facilities that matter to our community. You’ll be joining a supportive, ambitious team with the freedom to shape what our events and hospitality offer looks like for years to come.
• Up to £40,000 per year depending on skills and experience
• Performance bonus
• 37.5 hours per week (flexibility required for evenings and weekends as the events programme demands)
• Contributory pension
• Free leisure membership across our centres
• A role with real commercial ownership and the backing to grow it
